It reminds me of the time I worked in Ann Arbor, MI.
Apparently in some parts of the country a "grit" is a working class or blue collar person. When I overheard a co-worker talking about "grits" I chimed in with, "oh man, I love em with lots of butter and cheese"
I was considered a freak for much of my time in Ann Arbor.......................
